The Second Edition of the IPN Hackathon – HISTHACK 2.0 is starting

We are delighted to announce the second edition of the IPN Hackathon. Once again, we are pleased to invite young people interested in coding and history to take part in this one-of-a-kind competition – HISTHACK. Join us and code the history of the future!

What is HISTHACK?

HISTHACK is a programming marathon divided into two stages. The first stage takes place online. It involves forming a team and submitting your entry electronically through the application form.

The task for each team is to create a history lesson plan using at least one educational path – the name of the chosen path must be indicated in the submission.
All educational paths can be found in the research reports: “Immersive Historical Education – Towards New Educational Paths” and “Immersive Historical Education – Where We Are and What Lies Ahead.”
The deadline for submissions is October 8, 2025.

From all submitted works, the jury will select the 16 best – one from each voivodeship. The winners will be invited to the second stage, which will take place in person at the Central Przystanek Historia, 107 Marszałkowska Street, Warsaw.

The task for teams will be announced on the first day of this stage. It will last three days – from November 4 to 6. Teams will have a total of 16 hours to prepare their solution: eight hours on the first day and eight on the second. On the third day, each team will present their results to the jury.

Teams from all over Poland will have a unique opportunity to take part in this exciting competition. The total prize pool for both stages amounts to nearly 130,000 PLN! Awards will go not only to students and mentors but also to the schools they represent.

In addition, every team will take part in an event where not only programming skills matter, but also teamwork and soft skills.

How to take part in the IPN Hackathon?

To participate, you need to form a team consisting of 5 students from the same secondary school with IT and programming knowledge, plus one mentor representing the same institution. The competition is open to secondary school students, excluding final-year (matura) students.

Through the application form available on the website of the Office of New Technologies, you will register all team members, provide details about your team, and submit your entry.

Join Histhack!

All secondary schools across Poland are welcome to participate. In the first edition of HISTHACK, the winning team came from the Tadeusz Kościuszko Technical School Complex in Leżajsk. Winning depends on creativity, programming skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team. We invite you to take part in the competition and compete for exceptional prizes.
