The New Technology Zone of the IPN’s Office at the Podkarpackie Congress of National Remembrance 2023

The Podkarpackie Congress of National Remembrance, organised on 4 and 5 October in Jasionka by the Rzeszów Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, is a unique event that brought together historians, scientists, and other people interested in the history of Poland. Its first edition was enriched by the presence of the New Technology Zone of the IPN’s Office, in the form of the Mobile History of the Future Stop, which was visited by nearly 350 people. In G2A Arena, tradition meets modernity, and history becomes available in a fascinating way through advanced technologies. Visitors could get acquainted with the latest project “Testimony of help”, an immersive VR etude presenting the fate of the Ulma family; try to survive the Warsaw Uprising in the game “Warsaw Rising: City of Heroes”; crack codes in the popular “Cyphers Game”, and visit an apartment from the Polish People’s Republic in the “Szybowcowa ’87” VR application. An additional attraction at the Stop included holograms of Digital Heroes, podcasts about immersive education, and educational quizzes prepared on the basis of the projects of the New Technology Division.

The IPN’s New Technology Division has been promoting and spreading historical knowledge in an innovative way for a long time. During this year’s Congress, the IPN’s New Technology Zone presented itself in a unique way, combining history and modernity. Congress visitors had the opportunity to virtually travel in time. Thanks to the use of advanced virtual reality (VR) technologies, it was possible to take on the role of historical figures and travel in time to key moments in Polish history. It was not only a fascinating experience, but also a great opportunity to learn by participating in extraordinary events.

Thanks to the involvement of the IPN’s New Technology Division, Polish history becomes more accessible, understandable, and fascinating for all generations, especially young people. This is an investment in the education of the future, thanks to which we will be able to learn and draw inspiration from the achievements and experiences of the past without any barriers or obstacles.
