The New Technology Division of the Institute of National Remembrance at a Polish School in Paris

From March 24 to 29, the New Technology Division of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) presented its portfolio at the Adam Mickiewicz Polish School at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Paris. For this purpose, a New Technologies Zone was created, featuring both PC and VR stations, complemented by lectures for teachers. The trip was co-organized by the Historical Stops Office.

Immersive Classes at the Polish School in Paris

In Paris, the New Technology Division organized unique workshops that allowed students to explore history through modern educational tools. Participants had the opportunity to test games and applications and—thanks to VR headsets and controllers—immerse themselves in realistically recreated presentations of Polish history.

The event aimed not only to spark students’ interest in history, but also to encourage them to explore it independently. The use of modern technologies increases engagement among young people and helps them better understand the context of events that have shaped Poland’s history.

A Strong Response from Parents

The New Technologies Zone was open not only to students but also to their parents. Those who actively participated in the event expressed very positive impressions. Many highlighted the intuitive design of the solutions and the high level of realism, particularly in VR experiences. It also proved to be an exciting intergenerational experience—parents were able to view their children’s education from a new perspective and see firsthand how effectively modern technologies can support the learning process.

Meetings with Distinguished Guests

The event was honored by the presence of Agnieszka Kozińska-Makowska, Consul of the Republic of Poland, Head of the Consular and Polish Diaspora Section, and Joanna Wajda, Deputy Director of the Polish Institute in Paris.

The Deputy Director of the New Technology Division, Adrianna Paradowska, also met with parents, school management, and the teaching staff. Discussions focused on the development of historical education, insights drawn from research reports, and the presentation of the Institute’s educational offer worldwide.

Immersive Historical Education Around the World

Educational projects developed by the New Technology Division of the IPN are presented in many countries around the world, including the United States, Greece, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Germany, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. They are appreciated by teachers and parents, but above all by their primary audience—young people. Designed with younger users in mind, these games and applications foster imagination, support the development of civic attitudes, and demonstrate that technology can serve both entertainment and effective learning.

It is worth emphasizing that thanks to such initiatives carried out by the Institute of National Remembrance, young Poles living abroad have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of their heritage and strengthen their sense of national identity.
