The Ministry of Education and Science has published lesson plans using the game entitled “Warsaw Rising – City of Heroes”
The New Technology Division at the Institute of National Remembrance supports the development of modern historical education at schools all over Poland by introducing further tools for teaching history. Lesson plans that use the “Warsaw Rising – City of Heroes” computer game to teach pupils about the Warsaw Uprising have been published on the Integrated Educational Platform.
The “Warsaw Rising” game is an interactive time travel, which enables players to experience the tension of the Warsaw Uprising from its participant’s perspective. The task of the players is to become insurgents and participate in evidence-based events that happened in Warsaw between 1 August and 2 October 1944.
The new history lesson plans developed by the New Technology Division that are in line with the core curriculum for general high school and technical high school facilitate using the game in the learning process. As they are available in electronic form, they are a valuable resource that can be used to teach pupils about the history of the Warsaw Uprising. Such a lesson will not only provide pupils with historical knowledge, but it will also develop their analytical skills and critical thinking.
The educational materials prepared by the New Technology Division allow teachers to organise interactive lessons. Thanks to using the computer game, the learning process becomes more attractive and inspiring for pupils. It is also an excellent way to leverage the potential of new technologies in education. Combining traditional learning materials with modern tools encourages pupils to explore the secrets of history more willingly.
More educational materials prepared by the New Technology Division can be downloaded from the For Teachers tab. We have prepared, for instance, special podcasts that focus on using new technologies in education. The podcasts have been recorded to help teachers familiarise themselves with modern tools, i.e. virtual and augmented reality, as well as with innovative teaching methods, such as the metaverse. Our podcasts are a valuable source of information, which may help teachers successfully incorporate innovations into their educational work. The podcasts are available on Spotify, allowing teachers to learn and develop their competencies anytime and anywhere.
