The IPN’s New Technology Division at the 1st Uniformed Services Class Tournament
12 October 2023 marked the end of the 1st Uniformed Services Class Tournament organised by the Szczecin Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance and the 2nd Mechanised Brigade of the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Legions under the honorary patronage of the West Pomeranian Education Curator. The Tournament took place at the Combat Training Centre in Drawsko.
During this event, there was also a New Technology Zone of the IPN’s New Technology Division. Cadets had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the offer of our Division:
- “Świadectwo poMOCY” – an immersive etude in VR, presenting the fate of the Ulma family
- “Warsaw Rising: City of Heroes” – a PC game the main task of which is to lead soldiers through 63 days of the Warsaw Uprising
- “Cyphers Game” – a game available for VR, PC and mobile devices. The player, playing the role of Polish cryptologists, must crack Bolshevik codes, ensure radio communication, and neutralise armoured trains
- “Szybowcowa ‘87” – a VR application that allows you to immerse yourself using VR goggles in the 1980s, in an apartment from the Polish People’s Republic, which was the seat of the secret printing house of Solidarność Walcząca [Fighting Solidarity]
- Holograms of Digital Heroes, educational quizzes, and podcasts about immersive education.
The winners were students from TEB Secondary School and Vocational School in Koszalin, second place was taken by the Agricultural School Complex in Prudnik, and the third place – by the Memory of the Victims of Terrorism of 11 September 2001 School Complex in Kalisz Pomorski. The awards were presented by the commander of the 2nd Mechanised Brigade of the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Legions, General Dariusz Machula, and the director of the Szczecin Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, Krzysztof Męciński, chairman of the National Defence Committee in the Parliament. On behalf of the West Pomeranian Board of Education in Szczecin, the prizes were awarded to the winning team by the vice-curator, Bogusław Ogorzałek.
