Speech by the Director A. Paradowska at the XXVIII National History Contest Winners’ Competition
On 12-14 June 2023, Warsaw and Sulejówek hosted the Winners’ Competition – Final Gala of the Major Marek Gajewski History Contest. The programme included not only the competition for young people, but also attractions: a visit to the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek, the Museum of the Field Ordinariate of the Polish Army, and a film screening.
At the invitation of the organisers from the Mazovian Local Government Teacher Training Centre, on the first day of the Competition, Adrianna Paradowska, deputy director of the New Technology Division, introduced the activities of the Institute of National Remembrance’s New Technology Division at a meeting with history teachers. In her speech, she emphasised that all projects implemented by the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) are not only based on petabytes of data collected in the Institute’s resources, but are also supported by research collected in the report ‘Immersive historical education – towards new educational paths’, which sought to answer questions about the needs and expectations of the representatives of young generations in the context of learning modern history and education in general. Director A. Paradowska introduced the participants to IPN’s educational offer that uses modern technological solutions – the ‘Cyphers Game’, the ‘Glider ’87’ application and the ‘Digital Heroes’ project. During the talk, teachers were also able to find out how IPN projects can be used during history lessons, and that the IPN’s New Technology Division has produced a podcast series with them in mind, available on Spotify, entitled ‘Recent history, latest technology’.
On the last day of the competition, Director Paradowska attended the Final Gala of the XXVIII National Major Marek Gajewski History Contest in the Great Assembly Hall of the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
