Participation of the New Technology Division in this year’s congress of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience
For this year’s congress of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience (PEMC) organised by the Institute of National Remembrance, the New Technology Division prepared two immersive thematic panels. The first one, “Testimony”, is a moving etude created in VR technology, presenting the heroic story of the blessed Ulma family. During the second panel, participants could play the game “Warsaw Rising” – a tactical production illustrating the fate of people fighting in the Warsaw Uprising.
“Testimony” – an immersive time travel in VR technology
At this year’s congress, participants had the opportunity to take part in a touching etude about the fate of the blessed Ulma family, who, despite Nazi orders, gave shelter to their Jewish neighbours. As a result of a denunciation, the entire family and the Jews they were hiding were brutally murdered.
The “Testimony” consists of an etude presented at the congress and a virtual tour of the exhibition accompanying the project. Thanks to virtual reality technology, the congress guests could feel as if they were taking part in a story told through the eyes of 6-year-old Basia Ulma.

“Warsaw Rising” – a modern way of talking about history using a video game
The New Technology Division also presented a game – “Warsaw Rising”. It is a strategy game requiring logical thinking, planning, and management, enriched with educational value. It presents the fate of the participants of the Warsaw Uprising.
Guests who took part in this panel had the opportunity to learn about missions based on actual events of the Warsaw Uprising and experience the drama of these events.
The New Technology Division supported the congress of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience in Warsaw
The New Technology Division’s mission is to integrate the latest technologies with the fields of education, culture and history, thus contributing to more effective promotion of cultural heritage. Thematic panels with innovative tools for storytelling, such as the game “Warsaw Rising” or the etude “Świadectwo poMOCY”, are an example and proof of meeting the need of the young generation to learn about the past using technologies of the future.
