New Technology Division at the “VR in Modern Education” conference
On 13 June, MSCDN (Mazovian Self-Government Teacher TrainingCenter) in Warsaw organised a conference entitled “VR in Modern Education”. The purpose of the event was to expand the knowledge on the field of virtual reality in education.
One of the speakers was Adrianna Paradowska, Deputy Director of the New Technology Division of the Institute of National Remembrance. Her presentation, entitled: “Immersive historical education”, concerned not only the issue of new methods of historical education, but also outlined a broader context of the technological revolution from the perspective of the operation of the Institute of National Remembrance. Director A. Paradowska synthesised the characteristics of the next generation and explained the meaning of the so-called “nanosecond culture”, as well as the terms such as “immersive” and “phygital”. In the next part of her speech, she presented to the audience the results of the research contained in the 2022 and 2023 reports and with the most important educational activities of the New Technology Division of the Institute of National Remembrance using virtual reality technology (educational games and applications, the HISTHACK marathon, the “Digital Heroes” project, a set of materials for teachers).
It is worth mentioning that during the conference, school principals and teachers had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with practical examples of the use of VR: the Virtual Theatre of History, the educational games “MS Piłsudski – escape room” and “FUTURE BOOST”, and the presentation “Artificial Intelligence Workshop and VR in your school”.
