Mobile chests with immersive history education at the Greater Poland Researchers’ Night

On 25 September, the 20th edition of the Greater Poland Researchers’ Night took place in Poznań. Once again, the event combined scientific experiences, modern technologies and education. Among the attractions prepared for participants were the mobile chests with immersive history education developed by the New Technology Division. Nearly 50 people took advantage of them.

Science, technology and history

The Greater Poland Researchers’ Night is an event during which universities and institutes open their doors to children, young people and adults. Participants can take part in experiments, workshops, demonstrations and lectures, and above all explore the world of science on their own. This year’s edition took place on 25 September and included events organised at numerous scientific institutions across Poznań.

Modern technologies also played an important role in the programme. Participants had the opportunity to discover fields such as computer science, robotics, virtual reality and innovative technologies used in education.

The mobile chests fit perfectly into this formula. Thanks to them, participants could learn about the history of Poland through educational games and applications designed for PC and virtual reality environments.

IPN New Technology Division projects presented during Researchers’ Night

The mobile chests with immersive history education are computer units enclosed in authentic military chests and complemented with VR headsets. These specially prepared sets make it possible to present all educational games and applications developed by the IPN New Technology Division virtually anywhere in the world. On 25 September, they were showcased at the Poznań University of Technology Library.

The mobile chests are used during events addressed to a wide range of audiences – school students, adults, teachers, educators and parents. The Wielkopolska Researchers’ Night demonstrated that science does not have to be limited to laboratories or lecture halls, and that a library can become a place where modern history education is delivered.
