Mobile chests presented during the #IPNYouth Project

The fourth edition of the #IPNYouth project is now behind us. The Lublin branch of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) welcomed over 1,000 young people, all eager to explore history in a slightly different way—through art, fun, workshops, and modern technologies.

#IPNYouth in Lublin

The event in Lublin was a combination of education and creative entertainment, attracting not only children and teenagers but also adults. This year’s edition focused on the events of the Lublin July 1980.

Students from the CK Norwid High School of Fine Arts created a panel with a collage inspired by the events of the Lublin July 1980. Children participated in sculpting workshops, the Museum of Signs of the Times presented an interactive coloring book titled “Our Soldiers”, and employees of the Lublin branch of IPN showcased their collections, including weapons and uniforms of Polish soldiers from various historical periods.

A knowledge competition related to the exhibition “The Breakthrough: August 1980 and Solidarity” was held on-site. Participants embarked on a mobile urban game titled “Lublin’s Roads to Freedom of Karol Wojtyła/John Paul II”. The IPN bookstore transformed into an escape room called “July Spark”, where teams solved tasks inspired by the strikes of the Lublin July 1980. Each group represented different workplaces, such as the Heavy Goods Vehicle Factory or the PKP Locomotive Depot, competing in challenges tied to historical events.

#IPNYouth x Mobile chests

Mobile chests with immersive historical education were once again utilized during the annual #IPNYouth educational project for Children’s Day. They showcased all the projects of the New Technology Division, with a particular focus on the “Szybowcowa ‘87” application. This interactive VR walk takes visitors through a 1980s Polish People’s Republic apartment that served as a clandestine printing house for “Fighting Solidarity.” Users can independently reproduce copies of independent press, eavesdrop on SB officers’ conversations via radio, or watch a broadcast of “Television News.”

More Activities Using Mobile chests

The presentation of mobile chests was extended beyond the #IPNYouth event. Schools requested the continuation of immersive history lessons even after the event ended.

We are thrilled to see the growing interest from both students and teachers, resulting in additional sessions featuring educational games and applications. Extending the availability of mobile chests at the Lublin IPN branch provides an opportunity to reach an even wider audience eager to explore history in a modern format.

Let us remind you that all games and applications from the New Technology Division of IPN are available for free download on the Steam platform. You can explore them not only during events organized by the Institute of National Remembrance but also in the comfort of your home or school.
