Immersive Historical Education Attracted Opole Residents During Museum Night and Science Night 2026
The Opole Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) showcased its mobile immersive learning stations during Museum Night and Science Night, attracting significant interest from children, teenagers, and adults alike. The events, aimed at audiences of all generations, were designed to promote science, education, and culture.
Museum Night in Opole with Mobile Chests
The first opportunity to experience immersive historical education was during Museum Night, held on 16 May at the Silesian Institute building in Opole. From the early evening hours, visitors were able to explore the mobile learning stations equipped with all educational projects developed by the New Technology Division.
Particular interest was generated by “The Aviators”, which transports players into the realities of aerial combat during World War II. The VR application “Szybowcowa’87” also attracted considerable attention, presenting the realities of opposition activities against the communist authorities during the final years of the Polish People’s Republic. Thanks to this modern format, participants were able not only to gain historical knowledge but also to have fun and actively engage with the events portrayed in the experiences.
Science Night at the University of Opole
Another opportunity to discover immersive historical education came during Science Night at the University of Opole, organized as part of the Opole Science Festival. The campus at 48 Oleska Street was transformed into a vibrant space filled with experiments, demonstrations, and workshops, attracting crowds of residents from Opole and the surrounding region. Among the many attractions was the stand of the Opole Branch of the IPN, equipped with mobile chests. Older participants enthusiastically engaged with the VR projects, while younger visitors explored history through educational PC games.
Immersive History Education Within Everyone’s Reach
Both Museum Night and Science Night demonstrated that immersive historical education can engage audiences regardless of age and offers a friendly, modern, and effective way to learn about history. All projects developed by the IPN New Technology Division are available for free download on Steam and GOG. Discover IPN’s educational games today!
