21st General Congress of Polish Historians in Białystok with the Participation of the Institute of National Remembrance
The theme of the Congress is “Man as the Creator of History.” This idea emphasizes the role of individuals in shaping reality from ancient times to the present day. The event is organized by the Polish Historical Society in cooperation with the Committee of Historical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It will take place from September 17 to 20 and is held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland. Adrianna Paradowska, Director of the Office of New Technologies, will lead workshops on immersive historical education.
Workshops: “Immersive Historical Education based on the projects of the New Technology Division” by Director Adrianna Paradowska
Adrianna Paradowska, Director of the New Technology Division, will lead workshops titled “Immersive Historical Education Based on Projects from the New Technology Division.” The lectures will take place four times, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, on the final day of the Congress.
The workshops will focus on analyzing learning through play as an effective method of education. The starting point is the research report “IMMERSIVE HISTORICAL EDUCATION – Toward New Educational Pathways,” which suggests that digital solutions create new learning opportunities, offering an effective way to diversify and personalize knowledge acquisition.
The workshops will also address topics such as engaging ways to teach contemporary history to Generation Z and gamification in education. All educational projects from the New Technology Division will also be presented.

Institute of National Remembrance as Institutional Partner of the 21st General Congress of Polish Historians
We are pleased to announce that the Institute of National Remembrance is once again participating in the Congress as an institutional partner. The panels prepared by the Institute include:
- Polish-Jewish Relations from 1939 to 1945
- The “People’s” Polish Army as an Element of the Repression Apparatus in the Polish People’s Republic (PRL)
Additionally, on September 18, the exhibition titled “Trampled Conventions: Crimes of the Wehrmacht Against Polish Soldiers During and After the 1939 Polish Campaign,” authored by Dr. Tomasz Sudoł from the Historical Research Office, will open.
New Technology Zone at the 21st General Congress of Polish Historians
The New Technologies Zone will be available to all Congress participants. We warmly invite teachers, educators, scholars, and all guests interested in learning more about the educational projects of the Office of New Technologies and exploring immersive historical education. The zone will be located in the University Cultural Center building.
All the games and applications from the Office of New Technologies featured in the zone focus on effectively conveying Poland’s modern history. They foster civic attitudes, empathy, and curiosity. The zone will offer projects developed for PCs as well as VR (virtual reality) devices, blending entertainment with learning.
Deliberations at the 21st General Congress of Polish Historians in Białystok
In recent years, national academic centers have undertaken new research topics, enabling a better understanding of key social, economic, cultural, and political transformations in the history of Poland, its neighbors, and the entire region.
The Congress will highlight the connection between history and contemporary issues, as well as the role of history in shaping the awareness and identity of young Poles through thorough research. The deliberations will cover six main topics, ranging from the Middle Ages to modern times, and include twenty-seven symposia, seven of which are organized by partner institutions such as the Institute of National Remembrance, the Chief Directorate of State Archives, the Museum of Polish History, and POLIN.
